I could apologize for resorting to something as obvious and overused as fart humor, but I won't. I also won't apologize for the fact that the Somethings are somehow able to talk underwater. It's an illusion!...
Manatees really do fart a lot. In the winter, large numbers of manatees gather in the warm waters of power plant discharge canals, and little streams of bubbles constantly bloop up to the water's surface. The manatees will try to tell you they're just exhaling underwater, but now you know better. This is the kind of interesting crap I learned in college. well, i guess it is excused that they talk underwater since they ARE somethings. and you never specified that somethings cannot talk underwater. so it is perfectly fine. for your wonderful humour and art.

As far as talking underwater, I think the Somethings have many powers they haven't yet revealed.
The ability to speak without a mouth is a Something mystery. Maybe it'll be explained in another comic (as soon as I figure it out myself).
